***There is question as to whether this is indeed brass. Crimped snare beds, pre-serial keystone, red-felt baseball-bat are all transitional characteristics that can be found on both brass and ludalloy. The fact that this has not a single spot of pitting anywhere on the shell is the final proof this is brass. This shell was not nearly this shiny when it came into our possession. It had a layer of weathering that was cleaned off that would have been sufficient to produce at least some actual lasting pitting/corrosion on a ludalloy shell. Some say weight should be heavier, but those heavier drums are the ones with brass hoops and earlier lug castings.

Condition Description: F - fair condition because of 1 dent in the resonant bearing edge (pics 14-15). Besides this maybe 1-2 pin prick dents in the shell but no other damages. Chrome plating is all very shiny, original period-correct Ludwig hardware all complete, original, and fully functional. No extra holes or modifications.
