The sets below are complete one-of-a-kind kits — most built on 3-ply maple/poplar/maple or thin birch shells with reinforcement rings, the construction that gives 60s and 70s American drums their warm, low fundamental that modern thick shells cannot replicate.

When you compare kits, check the shell sizes first (a 22/13/16 configuration tunes and projects differently from a 20/12/14 bop kit), then the wrap: original Black Oyster Pearl, Blue Sparkle, or Champagne Sparkle in good condition is worth a substantial premium over a re-wrap.
