About Counterhoop

Counterhoop is a vintage drum and instrument shop run by musicians, for musicians. We believe vintage instruments have soul — an aged, sometimes dark sound that cannot be replicated by new instruments.

Our mission

By providing clear pictures showing the accurate condition of our items and accurate descriptions with relevant information, we aim to minimize the uncertainty of buying a used instrument. We restore old and unused instruments to a new life and offer fully functional vintage instruments as a viable alternative to new instruments.

Buying

Everything in stock is photographed and described honestly — one of nearly everything, from a single Rogers lug to a complete drum set. Add items to your cart and check out right here; we confirm availability and send a secure payment link before anything is charged. Many items are also listed on eBay and Reverb, and each item page links to its live marketplace listing if you prefer to buy there.

Selling & trading

We buy vintage instruments that are used, abused, and in need of restoration — primarily percussion and synthesizers. We also trade: if you don't have cash, no worries, we are open to trade offers. This is a business, so please make sure your offer is worth our while.

Twenty years of stock, one archive

When a one-of-a-kind item sells, it is gone — but it stays visible in our archive of past listings: 27,837 photographed specimens. If you are restoring a drum and need to identify a lug, date a badge, or confirm what a wrap looked like, the archive is a reference library. Ask us about anything you see there.
