Vintage Calfskin Drum Heads

Calfskin is the original drumhead voice: warmer attack, shorter sustain, and a midrange complexity plastic never fully copies — essential for period-correct restorations and early jazz, concert, and marching work. Slunk (unborn calf) heads are the thinnest and most sensitive, suited to snare batter and resonant sides.

Buy by exact diameter including any flesh-hoop variance, and read condition honestly: a head with even patina and intact collar tunes up; one with tears or a slipped flesh hoop is display-only. Store flat, dry, and out of direct sun.
