Vinyl Records
Browse all 143 in the shop — opens pre-filtered.
Our vinyl shelf is the drummer's record collection: jazz, funk, soul, rock, and soundtracks — original pressings where we find them, clean reissues where we don't. Every record is graded honestly and every listing names the label, catalog number, and pressing cues we can see.
Condition is everything on vinyl: sleeve wear and vinyl marks are photographed and described, and play-grades are stated only when we play-checked the copy. One of each, like the drums — when a record sells it moves to the archive.
Below: the shelf measured — release decades, genre shelves, and format cues counted from every record in stock plus the archive of past pressings — followed by the grading scale we use and how records are packed to travel.
What the shelf holds: vinyl by the numbers
Measured across 143 records in stock plus 1189 archived pressings — every cell below is counted from photographed listings and their titles, not from a catalog or a price guide. Cells read in stock / archived.
Release decades (year tokens in titles)
Decades come from year tokens printed in the listing — the record's release era, not a drum era. Undated means the title carries no year.
| Release decade | In stock | Archived |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-1950 | 1 | 8 |
| 1950s | 3 | 31 |
| 1960s | 12 | 139 |
| 1970s | 36 | 325 |
| 1980s | 16 | 153 |
| 1990s+ | 10 | 139 |
| Undated | 65 | 394 |
| All decades | 143 | 1189 |
Genre shelves (titles naming the word)
Counts titles naming each word — a content cue for browsing, not a claimed pressing genre. A funk-soul crossover counts on both shelves.

Format & sleeve cues named in titles
Explicit cues only — a bare 12-inch disc with no LP token counts as 12-inch, never as a claimed pressing. Sleeve cues (gatefold, shrink) describe the cover named in the title.
| Cue | In stock / archived |
|---|---|
| LP | 2 / 47 |
| 12-inch | 6 / 71 |
| 45 / 7-inch single | 1 / 7 |
| 78 RPM | 1 / 6 |
| Box set | 2 / 18 |
| Gatefold sleeve | 1 / 26 |
| Shrink-wrap | 7 / 37 |
Every figure above is measured from photographed records — live stock plus the archive of past pressings — not from a catalog or a price guide.
Collector guides: grading & packing
How our grades read (Goldmine visual scale)
Every record is graded by sight under bright light plus sleeve inspection, using the Goldmine ladder collectors use everywhere:
| Grade | What it means |
|---|---|
| Still Sealed (SS) | Unopened in the original wrap — the sleeve is unseen and presumed pristine. |
| Near Mint (NM) | Essentially unplayed: clean gloss, no visible marks, sleeve sharp. |
| VG++ | Clean gloss with faint marks; sleeve shows only light handling. |
| VG+ | Light marks without feel; plays through. Sleeve may show ring wear or a small seam rub. |
| VG | Visible marks that still play through; surface noise possible in quiet passages. Sleeve wear disclosed. |
| VG- | Heavy marks, plays with noise — priced as a filler copy, never as a listening copy. |
A play-grade appears only when we played the copy; otherwise the grade is visual and the listing says so. Below-VG- records are filler-copy priced for the cover or the rarity, not the sound.
How a record should travel
Records leave the shop outside their sleeves in a snug-fitting LP mailer with stiffener pads, so the disc can never split a seam in transit. 45s ship with their adapters secured, box sets get an outer box, and fragile sleeves get extra protection with a note in the listing. If a sleeve is too fragile to ship safely as-is, we say so before you pay — not after.
Frequently asked questions
How do you grade vinyl?
By sight under bright light plus sleeve inspection: VG++ means clean gloss with faint marks, VG+ means light marks without feel, VG means visible marks that still play through. Play-grades are stated only when we played the copy; otherwise the grade is visual and we say so.
Are your pressings original?
We name the label, catalog number, and deadwax cues we can read so you can verify the pressing yourself. When we know it is an original, reissue, or repress we say so; when we cannot confirm, we describe what we see and do not claim more.
Do you sell 45s and 78s as well as LPs?
Mostly LPs, with 45s and 12-inch singles mixed in where listed. Format and speed are stated on every listing — check the title and description before ordering.
What do VG++, VG+, and VG mean on your listings?
Our grades follow the Goldmine visual scale collectors use everywhere: NM (near mint) is essentially unplayed, VG++ is clean gloss with faint marks, VG+ has light marks without feel, VG shows visible marks that still play through, and anything below is priced as a filler copy. Sleeve grades follow the same ladder — ring wear, seam splits, and writing are always disclosed. A play-grade appears only when we played the copy; otherwise the grade is visual and we say so.
How do you verify a pressing?
We read what the record shows: label design, catalog number, deadwax etchings, and cover slicks — and we print them in the listing so you can check the pressing yourself. When we can confirm an original, reissue, or repress we say so; when the cues are ambiguous we describe exactly what we see instead of claiming a pressing we cannot prove.
How do you pack records for shipping?
Records travel outside their sleeves in a snug-fitting LP mailer with stiffeners, so the disc can never split a seam in transit; 45s ship with their adapters secured and box sets get an outer box. If a sleeve is fragile we note it and add protection rather than hoping for the best.
Should I buy here, or on eBay or Reverb?
Same records, same grades, same shop — our one-of-a-kind stock is listed here and on both marketplaces. Buy wherever is convenient; every order carries the same 30-day return window. When a record sells it leaves all three shelves at once and moves to the archive.
What happens when a record sells?
It moves to the archive like every other one-of-a-kind piece. This hub always shows only records actually in stock.
