Vintage Snare Butt Plates

The butt plate anchors the snare wires opposite the throw-off and takes constant tension, so check for stripped threads and bent ears. Maker-matched pairs (strainer and butt from the same manufacturer and era) are what collectors expect to see.

Adjustable butts allow fine wire tension from both ends; fixed plates are period-correct for earlier drums. Either way, confirm the mounting holes line up with your shell's drilling.
